The COVID-19 pandemic tore through the region's nursing homes, killing many vulnerable elder residents, despite intense efforts to keep them safe. Now some nursing homes are facing a knock-on pandemic crisis of financial woes: Unexpected additional costs, throttled revenue and unending, expensive staff shortages. This could spell the end for some nursing homes, particularly some small rural facilities.
