United Women in Faith Celebrates Rosa Parks, Transit Equity Day

NEW YORK – United Women in Faith today, Feb. 4, honored the life of Rosa Parks on what would have been her 109th birthday. On Dec. 1, 1955, Parks refused to surrender her seat on a public bus to a white patron, after the “whites only” seating area was filled. While Parks was not the first person to resist bus segregation, her actions on that day launched the Montgomery Bus Boycott. United…
